OTHER REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS OF NOMINEES

To be nominated for the Ultimate Alumni Awards, a nominee must in addition to the above criteria possess the following qualifications:
1. He or she should undergo verification as an alumna/ alumnus of the school St. Michael’s College.
2. Loyalty to St. Michael’s College. The individual must have demonstrated loyalty and must be proud of his roots as a Michaelite. Such loyalty may be observed through his works and other endeavors, as well as his continuing willingness to acknowledge his Michaelite identity whenever the opportunity presents itself.
Eligibility for Nomination To be eligible for nomination alumni do not have to be working in the particular discipline from which they graduated. Permission must be obtained from an alumnus before proceeding with a nomination. All nominees have generally had a minimum of 5 years or career experience in a certain field.
Statements of Support The nominator is encouraged to approach the nominee for additional information, particularly related to service to the community outside their professional area. Nominations should be prepared with attention to detail, ensuring that all possible information on the nominee is included. Nominations should include all relevant experiences (undergraduate experiences cannot be recognized within this award) Nominators should include information regarding why the nominee is exceptional.
Selection Criteria
1. He must be a registered member of the SMC Alumni Association;
2. Evidence of Outstanding success and distinction in his/her chosen field since initial graduation from SMC(or its predecessor institutions);
3. Evidence of contribution to industry, academe or research, with a focus on outcomes and innovation, through practice and academic achievement;
4. Evidence of Humanitarian service that has proven greatly beneficial to society;
5. Has made a contribution of significance that has reflected positively to the school;
6. Continued interest in and support of education of their Alma Mater;
7. Overcoming life’s obstacles; and
8. Completion of a recognized program of the college
Membership of Judging Panels
The Judging Panel comprises:
• President
• Vice President for administration
• Vice President for Academic Affairs
• President - Alumni Board or nominee
• One SMC professional staff member nominated by the Alumni Board
• A representative from Government, nominated by Alumni Board
• Three recognized high achieving external representatives from business, industry and the professions Award Presentation Ceremony Presentation will be made at the SMC Grand Alumni KUMUSTAHAN traditionally held in DECEMBER. The recipient must be able to attend this ceremony in person in order to receive this award. Under extraordinary circumstances an exception may be made so that this award could be presented off campus.
